New Office to Provide IT Support in Chester and the Wirral

We are delighted that our national presence is continuing to increase with the opening of a new office in Chester.

This branch is our 7th in the UK, and follows the announcement that our half year results show a 36% increase on 2009.

The new office will provide technology support and expertise to small and medium-sized businesses across Chester, North Wales and the Wirral. It will also cater for home users.

The branch is headed up by IT professional and Regional Director, Shab Syed, from Prenton on the Wirral, who brings his experience to the Group after teaching IT at schools and colleges throughout the area since graduating.

Shab, [30] gained a Business Information Systems degree from John Moores University and joins The PC Support Group to help raise the bar for IT support in the Chester and Wirral area.

He says: “Technology is so central to the way businesses operate today, but SMEs often struggle to use the wealth of benefits IT can bring or find the best support when they need it.”

“Although IT support has gained a bad reputation due to poor customer service and lack of expertise, The PC Support Group deliver a high quality service without the usually associated high costs and I’m delighted to bring that to Chester.”

The PC Support Group join in Clarins Celebrations

The PC Support Group joined in the festivities with one of their customers, Clarins Skin Spa, Cambridge as they celebrated their second year anniversary in style! During the week long event from June 7th 2010, Clarins customers were treated to a range of different treatments at special birthday prices.

As an additional perk for customers there was a daily raffle to win prizes including £70 of Clarins products and a stylish illuminated keyboard, donated by The PC Support Group.

Clarins Skin Spa has been working with The PC Support Group for the last 12 months. Peter Hannah from The PC Support Group (Anglia) was delighted to support the Clarins birthday week.

The PC Support Group have been a great help to our business, working outside opening hours to deal with problems as quickly as possible so that it doesn’t interfere with our day. IT Support Company Bucks Trend by Opening Staffordshire Office

The PC Support Group has defied the economic slowdown and opened a new branch in Staffordshire.

In its first quarter, the company announced an increase in turnover of 39 per cent on 2009. The firm, which has branches throughout the UK, experienced 60 per cent growth in the last 12 months.

The PC Support Group secured 33 new business customers in the first quarter this year compared to 22 in the same period last year.

The award winning company has now opened a Staffordshire-based office, run by computer professional Mark Broadbent. The Office will provide IT Support in Stafford, Stoke and throughout the whole of Staffordshire and south Cheshire.

Mark 50, from Stafford, has worked in the IT industry for 15 years and joins The PC Support Group from the North Staffordshire NHS Trust where he was an IT manager.

He says: “Unfortunately IT support has gained quite a bad reputation over the years for poor customer service so I’m delighted to be able to offer this award winning support to businesses throughout this area. The PC Support Group has created an effective set of processes that make it easy for us to deliver a high quality IT service without the usually associated high costs.”

“To experience a profitable and controlled growth in first quarter turnover in the current market says a lot about our strengths.”

The PC Support Group MD Completes Half Marathon for Charity

Phil Bird, Managing Director of The PC Support Group (pictured right with his son) successfully completed the Wilmslow Half Marathon on Sunday 28th March and in doing so managed to raise over £600 for the charity Shelter.

Phil said, “I enjoy running anyway but a half marathon is quite a bit further than I normally do so the last few miles were pretty hard.”

“I would like to thank a number of our customers and suppliers for sponsoring me. Shelter is a great cause and I was delighted when we managed to exceed my £500 target”.

Halton’s stars of business were celebrated at a glittering awards ceremony at the De Vere Daresbury Park Hotel on Friday 26 February.

The 2010 Halton Business and Tourism Awards were organised jointly for the second year by the Runcorn and Widnes Tourism Business Network and Halton Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise.

Nearly 200 people, including the 30 nominees, joined in the celebration of the borough’s top business success stories at the awards ceremony.

The PC Support Group (Warrington) was proud to be nominated for Business of the Year and Pam Case, The PC Support Group Regional Director for the area picked up the award for ‘Networker of the Year’.

Pam said “I was delighted to receive the award for Networker of the Year because the hard work and integrity I put into helping other businesses is a sure reflection of the values of The PC Support Group and the care we take to go the extra mile for our clients. Just as importantly, being shortlisted for Business of the Year was a great accolade in itself – it’s a fitting recognition of the fact that we carry those values through to our fantastic IT Support service.”

New Office Opens in York to Service North Yorkshire

Following its huge success in other parts of the UK, The PC Support Group is continuing to expand with the opening of its new office in York.

The York office is perfectly placed to provide The PC Support Group’s new advanced level of IT support for small business and home users throughout North Yorkshire including York, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Thirsk and Richmond.

Andy Chipps joins the group to head up the north Yorkshire operation. Andy brings over 15 years of IT experience and has already ran a successful IT support business for Balfour Beatty.

Andy said ” I’m excited to join The PC Support Group and work with a bunch of people who believe in the same principles as I do of providing outstanding customer service to every client.”

Burns Night Bash Makes Money for Charity

The PC Support Group (Warrington) decided to celebrate Burns Night this year by organising a party in aid of Grassroots, a charity that issues grants of up to £5000 to local, voluntary and community groups.

It was an impromptu affair organised by Pam Case (Director – The PC Support Group Warrington) but still managed to raise over £250.

Marissa Hankinson, Fundraiser, Warrington Grassroots Endowment Challenge said “Pam Case from The PC Support Group has supported Warrington Grassroots throughout and has reached her pledge target to raise £250.00 by hosting a Burns Night, where both herself, colleagues, family and friends showed their support. I look forward to working with Pam and The PC Support Group in the future.”

Pam Case added, “We’ve also pledged to help Warrington Grassroots raise funds by giving donations for every new Warrington-based customer we secure and encouraging other businesses to support this scheme. We also have the added incentive by knowing that every pound we raise can be match-funded by the Government and the money benefits many causes.”

After an already incredible year The PC Support Group has picked up yet another award for ‘Best Technology Service’.

On Friday November 13th the BNI Northwest Gala Awards Dinner was held at the Palm House, Sefton Park, Liverpool. Nominations for the awards were decided by BNI Directors based on reputation for quality and standards and the vote was from the general public and business community.

Simon Albert, The PC Support Group’s Operations Director and his wife Stella attended the dinner and Simon was presented with the award by BNI Northwest Executive Director, Terry Hamill.

Simon said, “Following on from our success in this year’s National Customer Service Awards it’s great to receive another award that demonstrates that we really do offer something special to our clients”.

“This one was particularly special as the majority of the votes were cast by our existing customers. The fact that so many made an effort to show their appreciation means a lot to us.”

Stolen Laptops tracked down by The PC Support Group

A shop owner who bought two stolen laptops was caught after computer experts tracked him down by using remote technology and taking a snap of him on a webcam.

The PC Support Group was able to trace the two Samsungs after they were taken from the office of Linda Adkins, company secretary at The International Coaching Academy based in Liverpool.

Using a combination of software and remote technology, IT engineers were able to pinpoint the exact location of Samir Haddad and hand a dossier of evidence to Merseyside Police, the court heard. They were even able to activate a webcam and take a picture of him. Today Haddad pleaded guilty at Liverpool Magistrates Court to two charges of receiving stolen goods.

Liz Hennessy, prosecuting, told the court: “The items were worth £2000 and were previously stolen on July 4. They contained unique identification numbers and were being used online. Their unique reference numbers meant they could be traced.

“The PC Support Group notified police as the computers were continually logged on and off. An address was provided of Park Road. A warrant was executed and two stolen laptops were recovered.”

Paul Williams, defending, told the court: “Mr Haddad suspected they were stolen. Two men came into his shop and he foolishly bought them.”

The PC Support Group was able to retrieve vital work records including client details and confidential accounts even before the laptops were recovered, again using their computer systems.

Simon Albert, operations director of the Waterloo-based company, said: “In a digital world, technology means criminals have nowhere to hide.

“Using our systems and a combination of software, we were able to take copies of the important files even after they had been stolen. We then captured the applications being used and activated the webcam. We were able to keep track every time someone logged on and see exactly what they were looking at on the internet.

“This included the Auto Trader website which meant we knew exactly where he lived when he keyed in his postcode.

“We handed over our dossier of evidence to Merseyside Police.”

Linda said: “The laptops contained several years’ worth of work. Unfortunately I hadn’t backed up the computers or copied anything to discs.

“Losing work information was a massive disruption, before this I just took for granted that all my important documents would be completely safe on my machine.

“Without the clever systems of The PC Support Group, we would never have got those laptops back.”

Haddad was given a curfew order for three months.

The PC Support Group Operations Director named in 42 under 42s

The PC Support Group’s co-founder and Operations Director, Simon Albert has joined the ranks of some of the region’s leading entrepreneurs after being named in the Northwest Business Insider’s prestigious 42 Under 42s.

The 42 Under 42s Club is regarded as one of the finest networking events in the region and took place at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Manchester on Tuesday October 13th.

Simon said: “I was delighted to discover I had been nominated for the 42 Under 42s club. It’s a real honour to be recognised and it was great to meet the new and previous 42 Under 42s at the annual dinner”.

Simon started The PC Support Group in 2006 and has taken it from strength to stregth with fellow owner and Managing Director, Phil Bird (a previous 42 under 42 member – sadly too old for that now!).

In the past 12 months the business has increased turnover by over 100% and has won a number of awards along the way.
