The Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers have a ton of handy tricks that can save users time and get more done.

1. Reopen a closed tab

Don’t you just hate it when you accidentally close an important tab by mistake? No need to worry anymore, by pressing Ctrl + Shift + T, you can reopen any tab you just closed. This also works for multiple tabs closed.

2. Quick search your topics

If you come across a word or phrase on a web page and want to find out more information, the browser’s built-in search option allows you to perform an easy web search. Highlight the word or phrase, right-click, and select “Search Google for” or “Search Web for”.

3. Set startup pages in your Chrome Browser

If you’re always navigating to certain pages, Google Chrome makes it easy to have them open every time you fire up the browser - a super handy trick to boost efficiency. In the settings, navigate to “On start-up” in Chrome or “Start, home and new tabs” in Edge and add the pages you want open next time you use Google Chrome.

4. Manage your browser’s speed with Task Manager

With Task Manager, you can view the memory and CPU usage by each of your open tabs in Chrome. If you are using multiple tabs, the Task Manager offers insight into which tabs are causing you problems such as slow speed. To do this:

  • Select the Chrome menu button in the top right corner (three dots)
  • In the drop-down menu, select “More Tools”
  • Next, select “Task Manager” in Chrome or “Browser task manager” in Edge

5. Sync your browser across your devices

With sync turned on, boost your productivity on multiple devices. Every time you change information on one device, such as settings, extensions, browsing history, passwords (and much more), it will sync among all others. To do this:

  • Launch the browser.
  • Navigate to the top right corner of your screen and click the profile icon.
  • Click ‘Turn on sync’. When confirmed, the icon will turn green.
